| Problem reminiscent of tooth ache, but more vague and around whole mouth
Hi all,
Back in early may last year I had to have a molar removed from the upper right of my mouth, the second one along (not counting wisdom teeth which, fortunately, still haven't decided to sprout up and I'm 28 years old)
two days back I began noticing a dull ache in that same area where I had the tooth removed and thought worst case scenario, I've got an infection in that area. Chewing food was a marginally painful process, the whole right side of my mouth began to feel tender. Early yesterday the pain moved to the left hand side of my mouth, again around the upper set of teeth opposite to where I'd had the tooth removed.
It feels like there's swelling on multiple points throughout my gums, chewing is painful and I don't think I can really pin the pain down to one point in my mouth.
Today the pain is pretty much over the left hand side of my mouth but when I bite down there is pain across the whole of my mouth. As if my teeth where all very tender.
One other symptom is that there is a funny taste in my mouth, almost like a very feint taste of blood but my gums do not appear to be bleeding.
I've heard that this toothache could be a sinus related issue / infection / etc. however I don't believe I have any symptoms that would point to sinus problems.
The only other things beyond the sinus theory that I can think of are a.) wisdom teeth deciding they finally want to come up or b.) a tooth needing severe treatment, however the pain is mostly in my gums and no one tooth hurts more than the others when I bite down, press them with my fingers, try to push them side to side etc. so I find this unlikely (but again, I'm no expert!)
Ibuprofen has done nothing to remove or even dull the pain.
Any initial thoughts? I'm not going to be able to get to a dentist until atleast a week this friday unfortunately so I might just have to dose myself up on painkillers and deal with it for the time being.
