Very sore gums!!! - Dental Health Message Board

Hi,
For about a week now my gums {upper left side only} have been hurting. It is so uncomfortable. When I brush, it does feel better. They only bleed if I try to floss.

Last Oct. 2007, I had a root canal there in one tooth. And even before that, this area has been sensitive and painful.

What should I do? I am afraid to go back to the same Dentist because of past issues w/. Do I maybe just need a good cleaning? It has been about a year now since last . And I am 26 weeks pregnant and may that be related to sore gums? I am worried. Please help.

Just wanted to add that the pain comes and goes. I really hope someone else has experienced this. I do brush twice a day and feel I take great care of my teeth. PLEASE Help!

I am not aware of any tooth pain or gum pain associated with pregnancy. I will say that if you had a root canal on that tooth than you should not have any sensativity due to the root bieng removed. My best advice is to call your dentist or if you do not trust your dentist ask for the number of a friends dentist who they trust and give them a call. Good luck!!

Hi nikita,
I have spoke to my Dr. in the past because of sensitivity issues with my teeth during and after my pregnancy. She did say this does happen due to pregnancy and I will probably always have issues now.

I know I have read that you can get bleeding gums during pregnancy and they recomend you have a cleaning and exam, especially during pregnancy...

So I was kind of putting these facts together and to see if I can pin point the problems.

It is strange because the pain is in the same area which happened to be the same spot the root canal was done. I am just curious... They always try to blame not brushing/flossing good enough, but if that was the case my whole mouth would be like that!
