Immediate Denture Impressions - Dental Health Message Board

Just wondering if there is anyone out there that did NOT get impressions made before extractions. If so, how long did you have to wait to do so. I am 4 weeks out from surgery now and don't quite know when I should go in for my Immediate Denture fittings. Unfortunately, I was not able to get my impressions done before surgery as you are really supposed to do and most folks do.

While I realize everyone is different in their healing times, just wondered if anyone had "been there" and could give me some idea as to how long I should wait yet.

Also, how long does it take for the bones to heal?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't go now if you wanted to. You gums have healed enough that the impressions won't hurt. But be prepared as gums shrink and change you will have to have a lot of adjustments and softliners etc.
