Re: Antibiotic treatment before root canal
Six to seven days is usually fine on an antibiotic before the root canal is started and often recommended as it gives time for all the infection to clear before the root canal. If you stay on the antibiotic you should be fine. Should the pain start again or get worse call the office. Even if he/she is not in the office you can often get some medication called in for you. Taking Advil or Motrin will also help with the pain. This sounds like you will be just fine. I have had this many times and once the antibiotics start working, the pain is greatly eased, and there is time before you see the dentist next week. Good luck.
