It could be pain radiating from other teeth or it could be the teeth above or below the area are gnawing the gum tissue since you are missing teeth in the area as well, correct? Teeth tend to need other teeth to rest on which is why dentists often recommend that missing teeth be replaced in some way. In some cases, teeth will shift in an attempt to meet other teeth or simply b/c other teeth are not there to prevent them from doing so. You probably should however go see your dentist and let him check it out - even though there are no teeth in the area it still could be a gum or bone infection or abcess forming.
