It depends on how quickly your body is able to heal itself and how extensive or aggressive the surgery was. For me it lasted a few days - maybe 2-5- but I was also given an anti-biotic and pain med to take during that time as well - which certainly helped. If you weren't given any pain meds try an NSAID like aleve or pain reliever like advil or tylenol but do not take aspirin since that may thin the blood and promote bleeding.

for pain meds. Fortunately, I never had to
use any of them. The first time, I did take
one pain pill the morning after, no pain, just
thought I should.
Like the other poster, I was also given (and did
take) an antibiotic.
