Bruxism and orthodontics - Dental Health Message Board

Hello everyone,

I've recently been told that I grind my teeth and that orthodontic treatment (which I've never resorted to) could be a solution as my bite is incorrect.

I'm in my early twenties and would like to try treat the problem as early as I can to avoid the problems that bruxing can cause in the future.

Has anybody got any success stories about bruxing and orthodontics or any other treatment ideas?

A short term fix to prevent damage is to get fitted for a night mouth guard. Your dentist can create a custom one (probably for a few hundred dollars). Or you can get a cheap boil & bite mouthguard from your local drug store.

Hi having ortho is the best way of sorting your bite as it's permanent so you should do what your dentist suggest. A tanner or nightguard is only use to stop any big damage taking place it will not sort out your bite. If you do have bite problems then have the ortho if you can afford it as it will sort out your problems
