| implants & partials

I just got implants on the top front on friday morning.
I wore a partial before that, and when it was made - it was suppose to be made to fit over my implants while they heal. The surgeon told me that it might not fit properly for a few days - and it doesn't! I feel fine otherwise, so I was hoping to go back to work tomorrow (no one knows I got this done!)
but I can't with no front teeth! The surgeon told me I could get my partial adjusted to fit on monday, but I don't see how this can be done immidiately. Can they just make me a new partial - or what will they do? Surely they don't expect me to go around toothless for 6 - 8 weeks while the implants heal!
