Dry Mouth And Sore Tongue - Dental Health Message Board

My mouth gets dry at night and my tongue rests on a amalgam filling on the top when I am sleeping. I have a perfect sore the shape of this tooth on my tongue. It comes and goes. This time it is especially sore.
Has this happened to any of you? I was at the dentist 2 weeks ago and it wasn't there ... I have had it for 3 days now.
How can I avoid this? Any suggestions. Do you think it could lead to cancer?

Salivary flow decreases at night so a dry mouth wouldn't be atypical. If the filling has rough edges then that may contribute to your tongue irritation. If the condition persists I'd return to the dentist to check that out.

Did you ever figure out a way to cure your dry mouth? I have the same problem...I used some dry mouth rinse from Biotene but it hasn't gone away. I also use Salese from my dentist, which helps at night for dry mouth because it lasts a long time.

If you have other ideas I would like to hear about them.

ChargersFan, Do you know why you have dry mouth? Dry mouth can be caused by many medical problems. I would see your physician if you don't know the cause of your drymouth.
