post op wisdom tooth bad taste pain
I had my wisdom teeth pulled (well at least three of them that were not impacted) and here it is the fifth day and there is now a throbbing pain and bad taste with an odor. I guess my question is when do i start to worry about infection? I understand that there is usually pain but it went from mild pain to moderate pain and it seems to be getting worse. Is this a sign of infection and if so, what can be done, (besides pain killers and ibuprofen)?

Could be a dry socket where the blood clot falls out of the hole, exposing the bone to irritation. See the oral surgeon who did the extraction.

I'd call the surgeon's office quick.

Throbbing pain and a bad smell are hallmarks of infection. Didn't they give you antibiotics?
