Hi, Hope you can help me..I have never missed a 6 month check up at the dentist(and i'm now 48!) However I had to get a new dentist about 7 mths ago who seems to find something wrong every visit , to date I've had 4 root canals..2 of which then ended in an extraction. Last week i had another root canal which was left half done because "it was a difficult one".Within 1 hour of leaving the dentist the front half of my tooth fell out..i went back and had a temporary cover? which has also come out. To cut a long story short i have found a new dentist who is willing to finish the treatment as i have lost all confidence in my last dentist. The new dentist says that she cannot save the tooth and it will need extracting but from the xrays can see that the root is fused to the bone...she is willing to try to take it out or has offered me a hospital appt . Is it likely that she will try and not suceed(is this a common problem)and hosp would be my better 1st choice...i just hate the thought of general anasthetic! The biggest problem seems to be that as there is only half a tooth she isn't sure she would get the leverage to be able to pull it out Sorry its a bit long winded just thought someone might have had the same problem. At the moment i have said i'm willing to let her try first
