(New, Help) Extraction, Clot, (Still Bleeding After 24 Hours)

Hi all, I had a tooth extracted yesterday (noon CS, bottom right #31) a massive blood clot has formed over #31 and covering #30 and #29 too. The bleeding has not stopped since the extraction. Is this normal?

A blood clot is exactly what you want, following an extraction. Are you doing anything to the area that is upsetting the clot, like touching it with your finger or tongue a lot?
My hubby is a dentist and says that you can wet a teabag and fold it up and place it at the site and then bite down gently on it and leave it for about 20 minutes. That should help. Also, no vigorous rinsing or drinking from a straw. Both will disturb the clot.

Braveheart, thank you for your notes. I haven't touched the clot with my finger and am trying to avoid touching it with my tongue. It is very hard not too touch it b/c it get so (((BIG))). It becomes unavoidable. Tooth #29 is also gone. #30 is there. They extracted #31. The main part of the clot is in #31. but it covers #29 & #30. I've been reading about the dry socket and don't want it. The bulk of the rest of the blod clot (that covers #30 & #29) eventually breaks off and I am having to spit it from my mouth. Can the socket in the area where the tooth was extracted heal properly with the bleeding?

Also, what kind of Tea Bag can I use. I don't think I have a regular tea bag. But I have a Green Tea bag and a Chamomile.

Do you still have bleeding today (Sunday)?
If so, put in a call to your dentist, they should know about this.
Any teabag would work just fine.

Braveheart,

You are a trooper! Thanks for your support!

The bleeding has almost completely stopped bleeding today (Sunday). Occassionally I taste a little blood in my mouth.

Also, THANKS for the "tea bag" tip! It REALLY worked!
