Re: Pain after having crown work

Prepping a tooth for a crown can be traumatic to the tooth not to mention destructive - its one of the reasons most dentists strongly advise patients to have the tooth root canaled before the permanent crown is placed. Although it is common for a tooth prepped for a crown to remain sensitive for several days you may want to see a endodontist and have the root or nerve examined - if the previous cavity and/or filling was quite deep it could be the tooth needs to be treated.
