Hey everyone,

I quit smoking cigarettes 23 days ago. They found a lump on my gum and said it could be a tumor, which scared me to death. Haven't even had a craving since (and I smoked a pack a day for 5 years).

Anyway, I was wondering what the gum healing process is like after quitting. Since that day I've had sore gums and tooth pain and sensitivity. They look like they're lightening in color, but still having pain. Does anyone know what its like for gums healing after quitting?

I quit smoking a little over a year ago and was smoking about 3/4 of a pack a day for about 10 years. My hygienist then said that my gums really needed some tlc and lots of it. I just returned from the dentist 10 minutes ago and was told that my gums look wonderful and healthy. It does take some time for them to heal, but if you have a good dental routine, then you will be fine.

try brushing with apple cider vinegar instead of toothpaste. dilute it at first if it is uncomfortable..my mum did this and she said all this tar and junk started to fall from her teeth, they were superior to toothpaste cleans...the fermentation process when the cider vinegar is made leaves healthy organisms in it, great for healing..mum even used to put it in her bath water and it eliminated body odour better...everywhere... It will help clean and heal your hygeine health, and probably restore some white to your teeth a bit too..
