Untreated Tooth Pain

I'm on an extended vacation ( 3 more weeks to go ) and I suddenly developed tooth pain at a back tooth.

It's not constant, it comes and goes. Right now for example I have no pain but the tooth is sensitive if I touch it with my tongue or if I bite down on it. This sort of sensitivity will go away but it comes back after a few hours.

I'm guessing it's pretty serious but I don't have dental insurance for abroad and I would have to wait until the 28th of July when I get back.

my questions are:

1. Is it advisable to wait under these conditions ? What's the worst that can happen ?

2. What can I do in the meantime to lessen the potential damage ?

I guess if it gets really bad I'll bite the bullet and pay for a local dentist.

Re: Untreated Tooth Pain

I guess if the tooth hurts more, you'll do what you intend to do, see a local dentist.
Sounds like it's hurting you rather consistently. You can try taking Advil.
