Re: Wisdom tooth causing ear pain
it is very possible the endo tooth is causing the problem. the nerves responsible for transmitting molar sensation are in close contact with a branch that goes off toward the ear. a failed endo in this area can cause the jaw to be difficult to open very wide -- there is a very good chance this tooth may need to be retreated and the pain will disappear. the complication you are experiencing is not uncommon, temporary trismus, (and not pleasant to live with!) and your dentist ought to be able to determine and treat this right away. you will probably be given an antibiotic and anti-infammatory medication right away so that you will be see some improvement and able to open your mouth -- this will make the retreatment (or whatever treatment necc if it there is any additional molar involvement) go easier for you. hope this helps and you can get an appt asap!
