Dental Implants-where to begin?

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the boards and in searching for information on dental implants came accross this site.
My story is -
Numerous health issues have required me to take certain medication which has destroyed my teeth over the past several years. There is no saving any teeth. I've seen a few denists and specialists and inquired about implants.
Without a doubt- I want dental implants to replace my teeth.
However, here in the US the cost is not something I can afford.
In researching implants, I've found many countries offer implants at a much more affordable cost.
It is just so overwhelming and confusing to know what to do, where to go. I know the rules of this board is not to advertise any business but if anyone has any info on anything that could possibly help me in my search I would really, really appreciate it.
I want (the hybrid implants) the type that only the denists can remove, this I know. But many of the names and types of implants are still pretty confusing to me.
Also, I know many dentist do extractions and implants at the same time. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm trying to decide if I should get all my extractions done a few months before so it has time to heal or is that even necessary? I've had dentists tell me both ways, so if anyone has had any experience with that I'd love to hear your comments.
About 20 months ago I finially realized that nothing was going to save my teeth! Its been very difficult for me to accept this. But now I just want to get the implants and have it over with. All of the research and dental visits is necesary but I get more and more upset and anxious. Somehow I just got to find the answers to my questions & get this all over with and on with my life!!!

Re: Dental Implants-where to begin?

Sorry no one has responded to your question. I had my implants done in the U.S. so there's nothing I can offer you about that, but I have two implants, and both implant abutments were placed at the time of that initial extraction. It's certainly easier and quicker if both of those procedures can happen at the same time. That doesn't mean that the tooth-looking part of the crown was placed. I waited two and a half months for the abutment to adhere to the existing bone and then had that done. The abutment is the artificial new root that the new tooth attaches to. Hope this helps.

regards, Sue

Re: Dental Implants-where to begin?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. I appreciate hearing about your situation. I'm disappointed that no one else was able to respond to my message but its complicated. I just need to research, make a decision and go with it.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share what you had done.
