No decay but extremely throbbing pain in top front tooth
 

Hi peoples,
While surfing the net to find help regarding my tooth problem I found a thread on this message board by SDailey in which the author (Sherry) explained exactly the problem I am experiencing. However, I can't figure out how to reply to her to see if she got her tooth problem sorted. Heres what she wrote, and honestly, I think she had exactly what I have had for the last three years. Can anybody help a) me make conatct with Sherry or b) with info about how to fix my prob tooth? And can I say that I have been to 3 dentists who have all taken x-rays and report there is nothing wrong with my tooth, no decay!! One specialist said he thinks theres been some trauma to my tooth, but I can't think of anything other than hitting my head into a wall just prior to my tooth prob starting.

Hi,
I DOES sound like a sinus problem. Pressing on the area above the tooth and finding relief sounds as though the tooth root is very close to or into the sinus itself. Did you find any relief with the allergy med? If so, that could be the problem.

Can you try a neti pot? It uses saline to clear the sinuses. It may help.
The only other thing I can think of doing, since your dentist already cleared the tooth itself, is that you may benefit from toothpaste for sensitive teeth. Front teeth are notorious for being sensitive and that may help you. It does take a couple of weeks to work.

If after you have tried this, you still have the problem, you may have a trigeminal nerve problem which can cause shooting pain that can be quite severe.

I sometimes get tight muscles in my neck and jaw that cause pain that almost feels like a toothache. Could that be the cause?
