Wisdom tooth extraction without sedation?
Hi all! I have a root canal that failed and need to have the tooth extracted. While in there they noticed my left upper wisdom tooth is crowding my other teeth. The wisdom tooth is totally through the gum. The dentist referred me to an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon said that local anesthetic is what he suggests and that I've sedation would be more hassle than its worth! I'm not into pain but have a good tolerance however I can not stand noises associated with dentistry. I have the money for sedation but if it really is standard not to use sedation then I'll be fine. I'm really stressing about this. I feel like maybe the oral surgeon sucks even though he's supposedly the best in my state. He's an older guy with 2 partners. He said ifbi was his daughter or wide he'd suggest the same thing. Should I run as fast as possible away from this guy or is it legit? He showed me the X-ray of wisdom tooth and it's roots are straightdown not curved and not deep in bone. I'm not worried about the other tooth too much as its not a wisdom. I guess I don't get why the endodontist and dentist referred me to an oral surgeon if the dentist could have pulled it?
