inbetween cavities

So i just got back from the dentist and he said i have 8 cavities between my teeth.

I just went in this past July and i was good-zero cavities.

I don't drink any pop or sugary drinks and i hardly eat candy.

I just find it hard to believe... and that they ALL need to be filled ASAP.

I am uninsured and it will cost my about $1300!! Who can afford that!??

Just wondering if i'm being duped... if i floss daily and use a fluoride rinse (they recommended) is it possible that they all don't need to be filled right away?
I know its better to nip things in the bud before they get worse.. but really?

It always seem like they find cavities every time i go...

I'm just wondering.. any advice would be great...

Re: inbetween cavities

I've having the same problem with my daughter as you are having. She's 6 but i brush her teeth reguarly, floss them and she uses mouthwash and she still gets lots of cavities in between her teeth. Most dentists will tell you there is no such thing as weak enamel but one dentist who put my daughter to sleep said that some people are just more prone to cavities than others despite good oral hygiene. The only issue w/ not getting them filled right away even if you keep flossing and using mouthwash is that the cavities will make your teeth really weak and they will break.( My two front teeth are broken in half right down the middle b/c of untreated cavities) Have you seen this dentist for a while? Do you trust him? I really don't think he's trying to dupe you.. just trying to prevent the cavites from causing your teeth to break and then your going to require more extensive treatment.(in my case the front teeth have to be pulled and i have to have a partial plate) I don't have insurance eithier so I know how hard it can be to come up with money like that. Do you have any free dental clinics in your area? I'm requesting oral sedation due to my dental phobia and b/c I have to have 15 teeth pulled.. my huge dental fear prevented me from seeking treatment for so long and this is the price I am paying. Most places have free or low cost dental clinics for simple things like cavities or extractions. Check around before you dive in to pay $1300. But you really should get them filled asap in my opinion. Good luck!
