Suffice to say I'm in a fair bit of pain. Enough to force me to go to a dentist.
Here's the problem. This surgery cannot be done by a general dental surgeon - it requires a specialist. Because it requires a specialist, my employee benefits will not cover it. I can't afford to have the surgery done
To add to this, I've been at the hospital on a few occasions. I have a white blood cell count through the roof - but they cannot find any infection. I also have fluid build up around my heart, again - no apparent cause can be found. I am still awaiting two specialist appointments (cardio and gastro) in an attempt to get to the root of the problem and maybe some relief.
I'm not a Doctor - but I can't keep wondering if these teeth are not the culprit. I don't have a family doctor and live in a region where finding a bar of gold on the street is more likely than obtaining the services of a family physician.
I've heard that OHIP will cover certain dental procedures if:
a) they have an overlying medical need.
b) they are done in a hospital.
I called and left several message for my local OHIP claim office - no return calls. I have prescription pain meds that are really not doing the trick and also running out and am on penicillin - but nothing seems to be helping.
Does anyone have ANY suggestions?
