Pain can last awhile after tooth pulled
I had tooth #28 pulled in February. It was apparently reabsorbing itself and an abcess had formed. The pain prior to removing the tooth was not bad, just noticeable when the gum line was touched but nevertheless it needed to come out. I had pain for almost 2 weeks after the tooth was pulled and needed to take 800 mg. of Ibuprofen every 4-6 hrs. for the first 9 days or so and then reduced to every 8 hrs. for the last few days. The area was healing just fine, but the pain was a big worry at the time. Hope this post might help someone elso who is experiencing something similar. I am opting to have a removable partial made as the thought (and expense) of an implant does not appeal in the least. I went through the tooth removal without antibiotics as I cannot take them and so anything less invasive is very attractive compared to drilling a hole and placing a post in bone for an implant.
