I had 2 lower wisdom teeth removed 3 months ago under general anaesthesia. Apparently it was a very difficult operation as the teeth were seriously impacted and had formed cysts.

I made a fairly uneventful recovery after about 3 or 4 weeks of discomfort and difficulty with mouth opening as was expected.

Now, 3 months later, I am still aware of a "tightness" or feeling of some swelling in the gums but nothing is visible. This is aggravated by talking.
How long will this take to completely disappear and is this sort of thing normal? I am now in my late 60s and I understand that the older the patient, the longer the complete recovery and return to normality.
