Numb right side of lip and chin

Okay, so i got my wisdom teeth pulled out april 14th 2012.
and my mouth is healed. BUT, for the past week ive have numbness / tingely feeling in my right side of lip and chin. when i touch it i can feel it but its more or less like when the dentist gives you a shot for getting cavaties filled. and this doesnt seem to be going away at all. it be great if someone knew why its doing this. because its really starting me make me worry. if anyone knows please respond..

Re: Numb right side of lip and chin

It sounds like the wisdom tooth was near a nerve that got inflamed. This is not unusual, but could take awhile to go away. My suggestion is that you tell your surgeon about this and see what the time frame is that they feel is "normal" for the numbness to continue. Was it a lower tooth?

the dentist probably injured your nerve while doing the extractions.... sometimes the feeling comes back but most of the time it doesnt...sorry...

Re: Numb right side of lip and chin

It all depends how the nerve was injured. A trip to the neurologist would be a good idea.
There are no hard and fast rules that most of the time, the nerve is affected permanently.
