Hi. My son is two and one of his front teeth has suddenly become black. He does not eat sweets, only drinks water or milk and we brush his teeth well every day. A dentist told me that he must have received a severe blow to his teeth and that he will have to remain with the black tooth until he is six and it falls off on its own. Some older children at the playschool he attends have already jeered at him because of his tooth and I am afraid that this will lower his self confidence in the long run. I am thinking of going to another dentist and asking whether he can have a veneer or tooth whitening, but I am not sure if this is done on young children. Any ideas?
It's not uncommon for kids to have a nerve die in the tooth due to falling and bumping the tooth or some kind of other trauma.
If you haven't consulted with a Pediatric dentist, I would consider scheduling a consultation. Especially since your son is only 2. There are options for his tooth, but I would consult with a specialist.
Hi. My son is two and one of his front teeth has suddenly become black.....Sorry sent message twice by mistake. I do not know how to delete it.
Take him into see a kid's dentist. From the sound of it, the root of his tooth has died. But just to make sure, take him to see a dentist. One that specialized in children. He might need a root canel and a crown for that tooth to try and save it until it falls out.
I hope this helps
