Gum Graft! does any one have any advice??

In eight days time I will be having my gum graft surgery, it will be for the lower front part of my mouth were I have gum recession on one tooth all the way down to the tip of the root. Six days ago I had a small piece of surgery done called a Frenectomy, were they cut the small muscle that attaches your lower lip to your gum, this was done as the muscle pulls on the gum, I had 3 injections of local anaesthetic and then it was all over after about 3 or 4 minutes, I was absolutely terrified and nearly backed out last minute, but I worked myself up, and passed out cold about a minute after the procedure falling to the ground, I think its funny now but I don’t want it to happen again, And now I can’t stop thinking about the gum graft, I think the main thing is that ill be awake and be able to see what’s going on, Does any one have any advice or tips, for preparation or the after care? thanks

Hi-
I had this done some yrs ago due to recession of my lower front teeth. I was scared to death but I had a good dentist. Grafted tissue from my palate, after a few stitches I was tender for a while, it did hurt, not gonna lie to you. But seeing the result after a while made me feel good! I still continue to smoke though and I know this contributes to it. At this late date, I hope all went well and u too were satisfied with the result!

Hi luv.
Just had the bone graft done.
I have an awesome periodontist that checked on me every step of the way.
I made this mess, so now I'm going to have to fess up to it.
More than likely you passed out, due to the shock your body was in.
My dentist makes me put dark glasses on, so I will not be bothered by the bright light.
Just Novocain and Motrin afterwards.
After 6 days my covering has already come off and some of my stiches have already come out.
Good luck.
