Sinus lift by tapping?

I will be getting two implants in a few months, once the extraction sites heal. The CT scan showed I will need a sinus lift on one of the sites. From what I understood, this involves tapping on the sinus floor bone to elevate (or depress) it into the sinus cavity. My dentist referred to the procedure as "minor" and "no big deal", but I worry a lot. How is it safe to tap on the thin facial bone, what if it breaks? Anyone can share their experience with this? Thanks!
