Feeling Down

From August to September I had four root canals. From September to October I had three extractions - three of those the root canals due to cracks after restoration. One was even a front tooth which was emotionally hard. Being that I already had partials, top and bottom for lost molars, a new top denture needs to be made including the front tooth. Let me add here that I changed dentists and am so very happy with my new one. She takes time, is most professional, and doesn't rush me into unnecessary decisions. The problem is that every part of my mouth hurts - like all the nerves have been stirred up everywhere. For a long time I was at the dentist almost every day, now weekly for impressions, fittings, etc. I have not eaten anything but mush since September. Just went for a fitting and things were not totally right, so back it goes. While I appreciate so much my dentist's attention to detail and getting things right, it is discouraging to go through the holidays not eating well. I also am getting TMJ now as things are out of line and won't get helped until partials are in. A mouth guard at night helps a little.

I know there is nothing anyone can really do or say. Though I try to keep a good attitude, dealing every day with pain is difficult and I guess I just need to know that things will get better. Thanks for listening, just needed to write it out and get on.

Re: Feeling Down

Hi, So sorry to hear of your troubles but you know getting partial dentures to fit correctly is very important and demanding step in making this all work. The time you spend will be well worth it. Are your old partials at all servicable during the transition? I'd hate to be without a front tooth. Can she make you a temporary flipper tooth to fill in for the front tooth while the rest of your denture is being made?

Keep up the positive attitude- it will get better.

Re: Feeling Down

Yes, she did make me a flipper so that is a tremendous help in how I look. I know it takes awhile, just discouraging that it didn't work. Thank you so much. You are always there for me and everyone else. It helps to know that people understand.
