Trying to make sense of my mom's TMJD
This is my first post. I have been reading the posts here and all very interesting and informative. I am hoping that I will be able to get some good information for my mother.
Background: She is 76 and has been dealing with TMJD issues for over 25 years. She has had splints and physical therapy. Her recent MRI showed R joint displaced and fails to reduce and the L has a small tear in the meniscus but position is ok. She also has small bone spurs on both sides. I don't know her mm opening but she is only to able to open "2 fingers". Today, she is seeing her dentist/surgeon to discuss the results and options. It has been suggested that she be fitted for a new splint and possibly an arthroscopy/arthroplasty. I have done alot of research already for her but she would really like to hear the personal stories and what issues you have encountered with the arthroscopy/arthroplasty.
I would also appreciate if anyone has a doctor in Florida or Indiana that they have had success with and really trust, to pass along their name/location. I really appreciate any help/information that you have. Thanks!
