| Three key tips
Here are three key tips that will help you face your depression:
First of all, let go of your old hatred. Hatred is something that will harm you more than the person you are directing it towards. Of course, they will feel the affect of it also, but you will really be bearing the brunt of it. Hatred is a dark and deeply rooted emotion. It takes a lot to get rid of it, to clear your mind and subconscious of those negative feelings. Going to counseling is a great way to resolve your past hatred and negative feelings. It's one of the best solutions I've found to managing hatred and anger that contribute to depression.
Second, never ignore or try to push aside your feelings. Sometimes, I used to pretend I was 'all right' and tried not to believe I had issues with depression. But after I faced my problem head-on, and stopped denying that I had any, I actually began the healing process and was relieved. Harboring your feelings and trying to make them go away will only cause more pain!
And finally, keep in mind that all things are finite, but happiness, love and peace are infinite. Bad things that happen to us - fights, sickness, anger, pain and hatred - they really are finite. They will not last forever. But the great, intangible things we can gain in life if we open our minds to solutions can be infinite. Learning to care for yourself and others will help you wash the old sadness away. Never give up hope for the future! |
