Question Question bout St. John's Wort.

I know this might sound kinda dumb... but I needed to know if I took some St. John's Wort that has the expiration date of 02-03, if it would hurt me. I was talking to my mom Monday night and she saw my arm, and she noticed that I have been Self-Injuring again [I started when I was 15 but I stopped for a while, but when college started, I got stressed and etc..] She wanted me to go back on paxil but thats too expensive, and I have some extra SJW that I had left over from when I used to take it and I thought that might make me feel better but I don't wanna take it if it will hurt me cuz its a year old... so if anyone knows, please reply. thank you.

Jess

Re: Question bout St. John's Wort.

It could very well be alright, but if you are worried I'd say don't take it. Since it is an herb, it may have mold or something wrong that could effect its potency or absorption. I have a problem drinking milk that's a day past its date even if it smells alright, so I wouldn't take the SJW.

Re: Question bout St. John's Wort.

I think the question is, to you want it to hurt you?

Most medications and herbs all have the same reaction to aging: They lose their potency. It's very unlikely that any expired medication could hurt you.

I can give you a list of resources on self-injury if you want.
