Question Wellbutrin vs. SSRI's

SSRIs make me sick. I can't say that definitively, because I have not tried them all, but I know that Celexa, Effexor, and Paxil all make me sick.

I was on Wellbutrin (the old one) for about 6 months last year. I quit taking it because I wanted to see if I could cope without pills for a while. I went off in September, but had to go back on in February. At that time, I started taking Wellbutrin SR.

The Wellbutrin SR has been giving me anxiety - a side effect I never noticed with the old kind. I was under the impression that they were the same drug in different packaging.

Is it possible for the SR to give me anxiety, but for the other kind not to have that side effect?

Re: Wellbutrin vs. SSRI's

I had a similar experience to you... although I was taking the same kind of Wellbutrin both times. I was on it for a few months and stopped because I felt better. When I started taking it again it gave me anxiety and weird disconnected feelings. Maybe it can affect the same person differently at different times?

Re: Wellbutrin vs. SSRI's

Absolutely, many of the AD's that are supposed to help with depression can have a side effect of anxiety, restlessness, rapid heart beat etc. Do a search for the side effects of it on the net, then tell you doc to put you back on what was working for you.
