Question Gritting Teeth While on Lexapro

Well my job has finally pushed me over the edge and I decided to seek help for my stress, anxiety, and depression. My doctor gave me Lexapro (10mg a day) and I've been taking it for about a week. I've found that I'm unconsciously clenching my jaw all the time and feel jumpy (someone stepped into my cube today said something loud when I didn't know they were there and I nearly jumped out of my skin). I'm having trouble sleeping at night (I watched all the hours pass by last night but felt no fatigue today???), like I can't shut my head off and when I do sleep I clench my jaw and all my teeth hurt in the morning. I also feel a bit floaty after I take it. Is this normal and will it go away?

Re: Gritting Teeth While on Lexapro

Some meds make give you more anxiety, some of the side effects go away in time & some don't. You have to give each med a chance & see if the side effects do go away. I tried lexapro & I had every side effect listed, the worst was the nausea & vomitting & racing heart. I only lasted 2 1/2 weeks or so on it.

The anxious feeling may go away & you should know within about 2 to 3 weeks. If they don't then you'll have to try another med. It's not fun, many of us have been thru many meds trying to find one that works for our depression plus has few side effects. It's a trial & error process due to the fact that each dep. med affects each person differently.
