I am a 24 year old female and wonder if depression is what is wrong with me. Like one of the other women, I feel extremly irritable and sometimes for no reason at all I get sad, and angry. I don't feel like I have much energy and by me feeling so angry all of the time, my boyfriend is seeing me in a very un attractive light. I have felt sadness once in a while through my high school years and I guess told my self I was looking for sympathy...lately, I am noticing more or coming to term with the fact that I feel this way alot, and feel like I have no control over it.
I don't know if this is related or anyone has experienced this, but I am losing my hair also. I have heard of people's hair thinning from stress, but I have a small circle on my head that started about the size of a quarter and is now closer to the size of a baseball. My dr. origanally said it was tinea ( ringworm of the scalp) but now after taken meds for that for 2 mths nothing seems to be working. I am just wondering if anyone has had this kind of problem, or if I am just crazy. If so , please let me know what you did or took for it.
You could ask your doctor what they thought about your moods. Are they related to your periods? They used to call it PMS, but now have another name for it ( I think it's premenstrual dysphoric disorder, but don't quote me on that), and it is recognized as a treatable condition. You could take a depression questionnaire on one of the depression web sites as a screening tool, but ultimately you should seek professional advice.
About the hair thing--- not quite sure what to make of that. Is it itchy? OR red? Or oozy? Is the skin there scaly? I would go back to the doctor to let them re-evaluate the situation, and perhaps send you to see a dermatologist, who can do a skin scraping to look for fungus (or maybe your doc can do this, it's a simple bench test).
I would also ask your doc to check your thyroid. Sometimes a malfunctioning thyroid is the cause of hair loss, and also depression.
Hope this helps.
I would put money on it ,that it's your thyroid. I have hypo thyroid. I lost ALOT of hair. I thought I was depressed I was crying to dr. telling him I can't raise my kids like this. The thing is that they test your thyroid by blood test and most of the time the blood test can come out ok even if they are not..I also gained alot of wieght.. I would suggest going to a thyroid specialist as they know how to determine it by morning body temperatures.. I was lucky enough that mine showed up in my blood. I found out through research later that I was very lucky..My hair is back , I lost all the weight, in a matter of 2 weeks a simple pill made me feel better then I felt in years...good luck
