I have missed you so! I have been so busy and my computer has been a PAIN. Everything is loading so slow--the board, e-mail... well, everything. And then sometimes, it just doesn't load. It's so frustrating! How are you today, sweetie? So sorry to hear about tired and depressed. I hope we can help cheer you up! Did you hear it's SOE's Birthday? Maybe she'll have a big party that you can get dressed up for and have some fun at.

Love, hugs, and wishes for a better week,

Andrea

Re: Does anyone here REALLY Understand?

Hi Sam

How are you doing? I thought about you today! I haven't been on the boards lately because I've not been feeling well.

How are your son's fingers healing? Did the surgery go well? Does he have to go through physical therapy? Please update me on how your son is doing now.

You won't believe this....you really won't believe this, but my brother just had a freak accident involving his finger. He was demonstrating something to a class he was teaching, and a rope got caught on his finger and twisted his finger and pulled up on his finger so that the skin came off and part of his finger came off. I'm not sure how much of his finger came off. He has to have surgery soon and skin grafts. I feel really bad for him. When I heard the news, I was heartbroken. He is in so much pain and can't tolerate the pain meds.

I hope I didn't gross you out with my description of my brother's injury. When my mom told me what happened, I felt sick to my stomach. I immediately thought of you and your son, and I wanted to find out how your son's injury is healing and how you are doing as well.

Hi Sealover
Thank you so much for stopping by. My son is healing. He had completely severed 1 tendon in his middle finger and almost severed it in another place. The doctor was able to repair it. He has physical therapy and didn't have any nerve damage. He sounds very good and very optimistic.

I am sorry to hear about your brother. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers, too. No, sweetie, you didn't gross me out. After 3 boys, I am pretty tough.

I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time. If you need to talk just let me know.

I had my Cymbalta increased today from 30 mg to 60 for my depression. The depression has been getting worse. I am going to try this and see if it helps.

I will keep you and your brother in my thoughts and prayers. Let me know how things go.

Love,
Sam

Re: Does anyone here REALLY Understand?

Hi Sam,

That's great news that your son's finger is going to be fine! What a relief. He's so lucky that his finger will heal and that no nerves were damaged.

I'm so sorry that your depression has been getting worse. I hope that raising your dose of Cymbalta is helpful. If you want to talk, I'm here for you, too.

I was started on 20 mg Cymbalta for depression (and the doctors thought Cymbalta would help ease nerve pain in my foot), but I couldn't tolerate this med well. Even on the low dose, it has been difficult weaning myself off of it because I have been having withdrawal symptoms such as lightheadedness.

I want to share this with you about what I'm currently going through. I've been more sad than ever because my 17 year old cat has been having health issues. She has lost 2 more pounds since June. She is now a total of 5 pounds lighter than her usual weight of 12 pounds. She has hyperthyroidism which can cause weight loss even with the med I'm giving her. Just recently she has been unable to jump on the sofa, and when she tries, she falls back on her hind legs and cries out in pain. As of a week ago, she hasn't been walking totally normal. Today the vet took x-rays, and it is apparent that she has arthritis in her spine and left hip. I will know the results of her blood work tomorrow. I'm going to buy a stool or something so that my cat can use it to climb up onto the sofa from now on. Besides the health problems, she is still very friendly and loves to cuddle with me.

I am so worried about my cat, and I don't know what I will do without her if her health deteriorates. I can't face the loss of her, I really can't. My cat has such a close bond to me and I to her. My heart really aches already because I don't want my cat to suffer in any pain and I don't want to lose her.

I hope you didn't mind me sharing this with you.

Anyway, I'm thinking of you and hoping your depression is eased by the increase in your dose of Cymbalta. You are not alone, Sam...I am depressed also and can relate to what you are going through.

Hugs, love, and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of your dear kittie's ill health. Awwww, that is so sad, I know you hate to see her in pain. I will be thinking of you and your kittie too! She has been a real blessing to you for 17 years...that is a long time.

I bought a Chihuahua when my children were young and we went through everything together. She died when she was 12 years old. I still miss her. You do get very attached. They show you unconditional love every single day, no matter what and try to make you feel better. They sense when you don't feel well and want to always please you. My grandson still talks about missing her and he was only 4 years old.

I am sorry the Cymbalta didn't work out for you. I had a horrible time getting off of Effexor and Cymbalta is in the same drug class, so I am hoping and praying it does work. I wasn't too thrilled with my doctor today but I will just have to try and be patient.

Love, hugs and prayers,
Sam

Hi Sam

I know what you mean about becoming very attached to pets. I'm sorry you lost your beloved dog, and I understand how you still miss her. I have had two other cats in my life that have passed on, and I still miss them very much.

I guess it takes time when you increase your dose of an antidepressant, so yes, you have to try to be patient. I hope Cymbalta works for you. It can be frustrating trying to find the right meds.

Hope you will have a nice weekend. Please do something special for yourself.

((((HUGS))))
