Post bad topamax

I have been reading these boards for over a year and this is the first time I have got my nerve up enough to post.(except for the one I sent about an hour ago, I can't find.) This is my second time on topamax and since starting topamax I'm having horrible anger problems. I was took off topamax before because of migraines, eye twitches and ANGER. The headaches, tingling and vision problems weren't bad yet but my dr. only started me on the 15mg. sprinkle caps. I called my dr. and he said to stop taking it. I ask if he wanted to see me or if he was trying me on something else. His secretary said he didn't say, then she said bye. This did not help my very low self-esteem. I called her back in about ten minutes and I was so mad I was trembling and so hurt I couldn't hardly talk for crying. He said it should not make me feel this way, I think he's mad at me. I go see him tommorrow and it would help my anxiety to know if anyone else gets real mad on topamax.

I also take topamax and have the tingling problem, but my major problem was with memory loss and deep vein flushing, no anger problems, so we reduced my dosage to 100mg per day. I give you credit for calling that nurse back who hung up on you like that. You deserved more respect. Are they giving you topamax as a mood stabalizer? If so, maybe your anger is coming from somewhere else and not the topamax? If youve tried topamax before and it didnt work, why did they put you back on it again? Also, I am concerned that you are not being treated with the respect you deserve by your doctor or his nurse. TAlk to your doctor tomorrow about your feelings, and if you dont feel that he truly listens to you and is concerned with your feelings, I would find another doctor. AS a female, I tend to feel more comfortable with another woman doctor. LEt us know how you make out.

Hi,
I take Topamax 400 mg/day and it doesn't seem to bother me in any way, but then again I take so many meds if it is causing any memory loss I wouldn't know if it was the Topamax. It does act as a mood stabilizer in my case, though the reason the Dr. gave it to me was for weight control (did you know that it can make you lose weight, esp. if used in combination w/Lamictal?).
Unfortunately there are more than a few Dr.'s office staff who are, and I hardly ever speak this harshly - but they are rude pigs, or if you don't want to put it that way you can call them petty beaurocrats(sp?), who no doubt lead meaningless lives so perhaps you can take comfort in that.
Have a nice day.

Ultreya816 thank you so much for your reply. The dr. says I have major depression,OCD and anxiety attacks. Topamax is the only medicine that made me come out of my cave in 10 years. I ask to be taken off before because my anger was running everyone out of my life. Also it felt like my head would explode. My dr. thought I could handle the 15mgs. sprinkle caps. It raised my otherwise low blood pressure and my other dr. wanted to put me on blood pressure medicine. I don't know what's up with my system because he gave me depacote for headaches and only one made my skull feel like it was splitting. It only takes 15mgs. of topamax to give me a headache above my right eye. I usually can't get mad nothing bothers me but when I do get mad it's like a flood. Maybe my brains not wired up right.

Nlathers I love topamax so much I went back on it to feel alive again. If I hadn't been taking it no telling how long it would have been before I got help again, if ever. Without the topamax I would never have called them back when I did Friday. I have been off all meds. since Friday. If my head wasn't still hurting I would take one before my appointment tommorrow and let him see how it does me. Then again he would probably put me in the hospital.
