Effexor - Depression Message Board

Hello all...

I am new to the board and would like to share my experience with effexor.

I've been on effexor for 2 weeks now. The first week I was on 75mg a day and now I am up to 150. I am experiencing a lot of the side effects. My doc said that I probably would not experience a whole lot cuz I was on a high dose of zoloft before. It has been a hectic 3 weeks coming off zoloft and starting effexor. I have had dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, (it's supposed to help that I tought), and some depression. I know I have to let it work in my system, but has anyone had strong to severe side effects and if so have they tapered off? Anyone gone from zoloft to effexor and can share their experiences?

I have gone from Zoloft to effexor
I have found effexor to have more side effects

For me the side effects Zoloft were very mild but there
The effect of effexor were moderate but tolerable

The side effect did go away with time for me.
I believe I was up to 225 mg.
The only thing I could not handle was the price
And the fact that I did not feel much of a change in my depression

Effexor didn't relieve my depression. Not only that my migraines returned shortly after I started on it. On the up side though, It didn't mess with me sexually as bad as some of the others. BTW I went from prozac to effexor. see ya.

I posted this message a couple times before, but I have had decent results with Effexor XR, however, the side effects are a lot to deal with. The half life of the medication is very short, so if I miss just one dose, I get dizzy, nauseous, and many times I will get a migraine. My migraines have gotten worse during the time I've been on Effexor XR. Please be careful with this medication...my biggest fear is that when I start to come off the medication I will become very sick.

I just wanted to say thank you for your postings. I am suffering from yet another side effect of effexor this evening, insomnia. I had no side effects like this when I was on zoloft. If I can get the dizziness and feeling agitated under control, I think I will be ok...
