How do you stop the feeling that you are too old now to beat this disorder ...that there is nothing but getting old left for you
i am 49 this year and i feel so old.....i cant understand how im going to keep going like this all my life getting older weaker and still try to overcome something like this that i have not been able to beat in my younger days
how do you get rid of the fear of being too old now? any help would be appreciated
I believe as long as you are physically capable, it is never too late to overcome depression. It is already such a hard thing to deal with, there's no reason to turn your age against you, that in itself is probably one of the symptoms of the disease. Yes you may be weaker physically, but mentally you are a lot more mature and you have/can learn a lot from your younger years. Best wishes.

48 is not old, Im 57 now thats old. :-). I started taking Lexapro about 2 months ago. I just felt sad about everything. Its really helped me a lot. maybe you need to talk to you dr to give you something. do something for yourself that will take your mind off of your trouble. go shopping, call your mom or a friend . anyone that will make you laugh for even a little bit. go out and take a walk you will be surprised how much it all helps. dont spend a lot of money or you will really be depressed. sometimes we just have to pick ourselves up and say enough of this crap. today is going to be different because Im going to make it that way. the worse thing that you can do it sit around feeling sorry for yourself. think of the people that cant do physical things, I cant imagine how hard that must be to live with. hang in there and take care of yourself. go take that walk. let us know how you are doing. we are here for you.
