i've been on all three (and several others) and found these to be the generalities:
1. SSRIs are all similar in the way they work, but not the same.... i was nauseated on zoloft, but very happy
on paxil for 6 years with no weight gain (unless I ate too much), until i "pooped out" (doctor speak!) and now none of them work (or "until further notice") ...
2. effexor made me bloated and i gained 12 pounds in two months, and didn't work anyway -- so i was both fat and angry ...
3. many people experience weird symptoms coming off effexor (it was released too soon -- type "effexor discontinuation" or "effects of stopping effexor" into Google) -- i didn't, but my friend on effexor just continues to get fatter because she can't stand the effects of coming off ...
4. remeron made me fat (regained the weight i lost on effexor), and also didn't work ...

so not everything works for everyone, but surely something's gotta work for someone!
