Post L-Glutamine for depression?

I have suffered from depression off and on for years. I usually feel good for a couple of weeks at a time and then I get really depressed for several days or a week.(Bi-polar runs in my family).

A few weeks ago I started taking L-Glutamine and protein supplements to gain muscle mass. Since I started taking them, I have not had a depression episode. I've really been feeling pretty good lately. Could there be some connection?

I'm not used to feeling happy for three weeks in a row like this and I don't know if the L-Glutamine is helping me or if I'm just having an extended up-swing. Has anyone else seen improvement with L-Glutamine? If I stop taking it, will I get really depressed again? I pray that this feeling good lasts, but I fear that another episode of sadness and despair is just around the corner. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I've seen several studies on depression meds and amino acids. The body building stuff is loaded with amino acids --note that they to have side effects some really bad because some convert into like anabolic, so careful. I also read that Bi-polars have to be very careful and it is not really suggestable. I have read that l-glutamine helps get rid of brain fog due to ammonia from what ever reason-I had to share this info on the addiction form with some person who posted as dizzy shakes or something to that affect. I wrote some info for him, give it a look. You should look into turkey natural homemade not luncheon meat - it is legal l-tryptophan which is a precurser to serratonin it is made when you are sleeping -I replied to amb-1 post, give it a look. This research has been known for years but the psychopharmacuetical co. are making beucoup bucks on everyone and the insurance co with all these newly highly marketed meds. Seek a good nutritionist. Working out releases l-ornithine.
