started Remeron last night - Depression Message Board

Hi everybody, I'm new on this board. I've had periods of depression since my 20s (I'm 40 now) but never required medication until this one. I first got depressed in April and they've tried several meds, none of which has worked very well. So now I'm on Remeron. I took my first dose (30 mg) last night. Does anybody know how long I should expect to wait before feeling any effects?
I sure hope this med works well for me. It's been a long time since I've truly felt good. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.

I was on remeron at one time and almost immediately felt a little dazed like somone hit me in the head with a 2" by 4" without the pain, but that went away after a couple of days and I noticed it helping within the first week. That said I would highly recommend looking into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It has changed my life in a remarkably short period of time and I just keep getting better and better. Pick up a copy of "Been There, Done That? Do This!" or Feeling Good" to learn more about it. I'm drug free and feeling the best I've ever felt.

I took Remeron while I was on Prozac to help stimulate my apetite. I took it only once because it made me sleep about 80% of the day. During the time that I was awake I was really out of it. I dumped them down the toilet that day. I hope you have better luck with it than I did. Good luck!
