Unhappy Effexor and hypersomnia

Has anyone else noticed that they require more sleep while taking effexor. I used to sleep 7.5-8.0 hrs/night before I started taking effexor and I generally felt rested. I'm only at 75 mg, but I keep sleeping in, no matter if I go to bed an hour or two early or not. I'd say I'm sleeping 10-11 hours a night now because I just can't get up in the morning. Luckily I have an occupation where my hours are flexible, but it's really starting to worry me. I've been on Effexor XR (75mg) for 5 weeks now, will this dissipate?

does the effectiveness of anti-depressants wear off for everyone I wonder? if so, then why do doctors even prescribe them in the first place, since they seem to be hell to come off of.

Well to me, it's worth the hell I go thru with the withdrawl changing med's. To go thru a self induced living hell thats all in my head. Then to the change of being able to function, but once the med wasnt strong enough to keep me from depression any more, I knew i needed to change it. I craved for being able to function. Self pitty and wallowing in my own hate isnt the way to live life, because that was my own hell in my mind I'd rather suffer for a bit, to try and regain sanity.

i was on effexor for 3 years and the sleepines never went away.

another thing, my doctor told me point blank that ssri's and in particular effexor do not have any withdrawl symptoms when its time to stop treatment. When I stopped taking it, i had the worst withdrawls ever, and i point blank called my doctor a liar to his face. needless to say, he is no longer my doctor. ssri's are the wonderdrugs of current times, and the pharmacutical companies are pushing them harder than street dealers are crack. Many doctors are missinformed by exagerations made by pharmacutical reps, the point is, do your research before you pop anything in you mouth, the internet is a wonderful resource.
