Dry Eyes Due to Prozac, Topamax - Depression Message Board

any suggestions on how to deal with the brutal dry eyes from the Prozac/topamax combo? I'm just on a very low dose of both for my migraines and yet they're doing a number on my eyes and mouth. I have treatments for my mouth but I'm wondering what to do for the eyes. I have humidifiers already but I'm wondering which drops or other treatments are the best for the eyes if you're taking antidepressants. Since the topamax is working for my migraines, I anticipate being on it for a while, so I'll need the prozac to kill the irritability side effect as well.

I have so. cal. kaiser so I'm not sure they'll cover restasis. I'm hoping to try a few other things before even reaching that point. Oh and I'm a vegetarian so any supplements need to be vegetarian acceptable. thanks!

Have you tried artificial tears? There are several name brands as well as generic-I get mine from Walmart or Dollar General. My dry eyes are mainly from my estrogen therapy (even though I was on Prozac for 3 years until just recently). I asked my eye doctor about it and she recommended I try them. She said you can use them several times a day if needed. Its not been the perfect solution but they do work well for me ( I do not want ANOTHER perscription).

I've just started trying a couple of different kinds, Clear eyes for Dry eyes, and Tears Naturale Forte for Moderate/Severe Dry eyes. I use Clear Eyes in the day and the other at night before I go to bed.

I also drink at least 80 oz of water a day.

I have been having problems with allergies and dry eyes lately.

My opthamologist suggested that I take a supplement called "3-6-9". I've been taking it for a week now and my eyes are improving.

You can pick it up at any health food store.

thanks! is there any dosage of the 3-6-9 that your doc suggested?
