Addict with Depression
Hello:
I have talking Cymbalta 60mg for about 3 weeks and keep waiting for a "big event" to occur with this drug and how I will feel. Initially after a day or two I felt better, but that quickly subsided. Not sure if that was psychosomatic or not. I am free from my opiate addiction but I wonder if the addict in me is wanting a more dramtic experience.You hear everyone talk about Cymbalta as the miracle drug and that it dramatically improved the quality of peoples lives. Just not sure if it will work for me. Has anyone used any AD combos with Cymbalta that worked? Thanks

It may take 6-8 weeks to know if the medication will help you. For some people antidepressants help with the depressive symptoms, but they're not magic pills. They don't work on the underlying reasons for the depression. I think therapy is essential for significant, lasting improvement.

You are setting yourself up for disappointment. I wondered the same thing myself at one time. Ad's do not make you happy or euphoric. The effects are more subtle than that.

Thanks for your input and insight. I think I've known this all along but wasn't sure what to expect. I think I've been setting my expectations too high as well
