sliding back into the tunnel

hi everyone,

i have been struggling with depression for quite a while. for the past year, i've begun to gain some control and make improvements. in fact, i even thought that i might be nearing the end of the tunnel as i begin to see some light. lately i got in touch with a friend who is depressed over work-related issues. it affected me so much that i'm sliding back into the black hole. why is it so hard to sustain the breakthrough ?? does anyone face a similar problem ?

Re: sliding back into the tunnel

I feel much the same way--"sliding back into the tunnel" is a good way to put it. I will convince myself that I'm doing better, that I can finally handle everything alone but then one tiny thing will happen and it just pulls me back down and every aspect of my life is affected. Everyone says focus on the good things in your life, but when you're depressed, even the good things dont seem so great. I hope you can pull out of it soon!

I think that the above is the reason that you slid backwards a bit. You might want to consider limiting the time that you spend with this person because it seems to be affecting you in a bad way.
