Alternative Sleep Cycles?...and a happy new year

Anybody out there on a successful alternative sleep cycle? Like 12 hours of sleep every other day, or 4 hour naps twice a day? I have a few friends like this who, once they discovered it, realized they were not so imbalanced afterall.

Perhaps it is wishful thinking to believe that emotional/psychological imbalance is a result of not having found your true, unique sleep-schedule niche. But hell, there are so many factors that make up ones emotional/psychological state (diet, occupation, physical activity, relationships, genetics, childhood, sleep, etc.) that it must at least be admitted as a possibility. Thoughts?

And Happy New Year to you all...especially those of you who are staying home because of overbearing depression or anxiety...or simply out of contempt for a BS, not-so-holy day that exists only as an excuse for being hung over on January 1. Cheers from NY!

If you do a search for sleep deprivation, circadian rhythms, and depression, there is good information about the connection between sleep and depression. Changing my sleep schedule is one of the most effective things that I've done. Getting up early works for me.
