paroxetine hydrochloride and painkillers

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to take both at the same time. paroxetine hydrochloride and co-codamol. I had depression a while ago and feel it is coming back but i still have the meds and they are still within the expiry date but im on pain killers for neuralgia.

Any info appreciated.

Re: paroxetine hydrochloride and painkillers

Unfortunately, pain meds are CNS depressants, thus causing or worsening depression. As far as mixing the two drugs, I would call up a pharmacist and make sure there are no interactions.

Re: paroxetine hydrochloride and painkillers

It could be the case! Many times depressants(all kinds, pills, alcohol, etc.) can cause more severe reactions (depression, manic-depression, etc.) in some people while others are not as affected.

I do know another example, is that many women who suffer from things like severe post-partum depression seem to be the ones on pain killers, at least most of them.

I opted for tylenol when I had both my kids and I seriously did not feel any post-partum at all!

I hope you will feel better once you don't need the painkillers anymore.
