Athlete on Prozac? Hurt performance

Just curious if anyone on here is on prozac and exercises hard each day. I really like to run bike swim hike golf etc, and was curious if the drug depletes the WANT to do that stuff. I suffer from mild depression from time to time and my DR. said that he wanted me to try prozac. Any thoughts?

Meds made me way too tired to exercise. I dunno. Everyone is different.

Re: Athlete on Prozac? Hurt performance

I am a collegiate athlete and had problems with energy levels on every SSRI I took. However, the depression itself drained me, even before medication.

If you are suffering from mild depression I would not even consider taking any meds. Try natural products before chemicals.

take care

Re: Athlete on Prozac? Hurt performance

I used to exercise on SSRI's and had little endurance. I'd be drained for the rest of the day. Off meds, I feel energized and euphoric after intense exercise.

Ditto what trg247 said. I take 5-HTP and it works great. You can get it at any vitamin store.

Individual response varies to a large degree. Trial and error..........I do not know about golf. I am a weekend golfer. Is this good for depression? Talk about a frustrating game!!! Good luck

I'm with the pp. Don't get into meds with mild depression. You lead an active life.
