Re: Juju...:)

I used to go to the Jazz Festival every year when I lived in Ypsilanti. What's it like living in Detroit?

LOL, Like living anywhere else, I guess

I mean, sure, as it's been known WORLDWIDE, there are problems here like a *****... but everybody's not high on drugs, or shooting N lootin', or pimpin or on a stroll...... (even though the vast majority of TV images show otherwise)

A large unknown and unheard of number of us work and put our kids in school, through college and want the best for them like everyone else.

Ok, now I'm better.

Geez, Mrs. Skye -- lookin at how you've been writin', I didn't foresee this coming!

Ok, yeah, I get pretty down about things; I lost my moms coming up on 4 yrs ago, so I get to feelin' bad at certain times; but for the most part, I'm trying to laugh a little and get a laugh out of others b/c life is soooo precious and we all need to live like there's no tomorrow. Tomorrow is not promised (an old expression my moms used to say).

I value her words; even moreso the older I get.

LOL, I can't get over you and this "slang" you talking in your quote! So what up though, New Yawk City??????

Re: Juju...:)

yo, yo, wassssuuuuuuuuuuuup, detroit????

girl, seriously, i'm sorry about your mom. there's only one we've got, one we'll ever get, and when she goes.... at least you had a good relationship i presume, so you have good memories of her. God bless her soul, and may she rest in peace, as we believers say. even though my mom and i don't along very well (can't be in the same room together for more than one hour tops, before we agree to disagree on something), the older i get, the more i see her as "just a woman" who basically made some wrong choices in life, and who now regrets them and works very hard to make up for what she didn't do before. she's older, she's much more tired, she's sick, but she keeps pugging away like crazy. she's even more energetic than me, but that may have soemthing to do with her hyperthyroidism. she's also depressed as hell but being of the "old mentality" she doesn't want to admit it--although she's always seeing drs. about "physical ailments." anyway, it's a sad life, really. sometimes just thinking about her life, makes me depressed. that's why i try not to think about it. plus, she is sorta domineering you know, so even if she's offered help, she thinks her way is the best way....

you know ju, LIFE IS SHORT. the older i get, the more i realize it, and it scares the crap outta me!!!! especially of late, and esp. when i;m in my "mood", the thought keeps coming into my mind and i can't shake it. keep thinking of my own mortality, and that all there is aroud me, all the people walkin around, all i see, the blgs, the children, the trees, absolutely everything, will not be/exist one day. damn, don't want to think about this anymore. sorry.

but yeah, new yawk is awight so far. same ol' same ol' 'round here. and yeah, you think i be all proper all the time....foggedabout it!!!! you ain't hearin' me tawkin when i really get down with it, girrrrl! i'd love to have a cup of cowffee wichya at an outdoo' cowffee shop or somthin' and tawk and tawk, cuz i jus' know we' iz gonna get along like pals.

tell me moa about yo' hubby and kid and 'bout yo' life in general--if yo want to that iz. ... and wheneve you be up to it.

huggies,
d.

LOL Mrs. Skye!

Well my moms is great people... she's a southerner through and through.
Girl, she'd have these "expressions/sayings" and I'd be all after she'd say them; but as I got older, I understood exactly what she was talking about.
We had a good relationship, and I have some wonderful memories of her. I mostly think of things she's said and I watch how those things make sooo much sense to me now. I wind up puttin' it on my kids!

I think now your mother has realized that the things she did/the way she was as a mother to you at a younger age is something that she can change; although it's hard when a person is "old(er) and set in their ways".
Sometimes you need space to get a long better.

Ok, now me & the hubby been married going on 17 yrs and I've 2 kids.
Yesterday, I was panicked out of my mind b/c there was a lockdown situation at my oldest baby's school.
There were 4 gunmen there and we couldn't get any info. from the school; they weren't letting anyone out or in.
It was mobbed w/parents everywhere, trying to see if the kids were ok, or if it was a hostage situation! (I'm in tears--I thought, "What would I do if anything were to happen to my baby???")
All the local news crews were crawling every where; there wasn't a place to park when I got there. I got on a "sidestreet" and waited... a nervous wreck.

After about maybe an hour and a half, they let the kids out. They arrested 4 suspects, but, as news reports stated, they found "one fake gun".

My daughter told me that the gunmen were on the same floor she was on while in school; and her girlfriend was down the hall. Her girlfriend saw one gunman that came into her classroom and pointed the gun in the class; THANK GOD HE DIDN'T SHOOT!
That whole VT incident kept ringing in my head--just questions, questions, questions and no one would say a word!
When my girl got out, her girlfriend's mom drove her around and I saw them and grabbed her and hugged her and asked her was she alright? She was like, "Yeah, I'm just really scared."
And they had to go back there today for finals!

Dr. Sannah asked me what it was like to live in the D... well, there you have it.
Just 3 weeks ago, they had another shoot out there and 2 kids were shot.: (
