okay to take near bedtime?

Im just wondering if it matters what time is better for my anti-depressant? Yesterday i was wide awake, i took it then pow! I was tired....so tired

Does it matter what time of the day you take it? I read through the guide that came w/the prescription and it says nothing about when to take, just once a day.

And since it does cause tiredness It could help me fall asleep?

Re: okay to take near bedtime?

I take my meds first thing in the morning cause one of the side affects can be insomnia. It helps a lot for the most part.

Re: okay to take near bedtime?

My psychiatrist told me to take it in the morning. It even says on my pill bottle to take every morning.

Re: okay to take near bedtime?

It really depends on the antidepressant. I take Wellbutrin and Effexor in the morning because they are both stimulating and I take Remeron at night as it is suppose to help you sleep. I also take lithium in the morning and at night, the majority of it at night. So it really is going to depend on the med. On a side note my siter takes a real high dose of Effexor at night because it knocks her right out

take care

Re: okay to take near bedtime?

mixed reviews! I read that it could cause insomnia. I figure i'll give it a shot tonight and see how it goes.

I have felt tired all day today, i even napped. I kinda think it's from the pill I took yesterday! Its been 24hrs!

Re: okay to take near bedtime?

hi piranna,

try it both ways, and see which way is best for YOU!!!
as your body adjusts to it, the sleepy effect willl probably go away too!

i think that people who are already on some type of AD's are used to these meds in their system, but for you, this is the first time you're trying this kind of medicine. so, your body is probably more sensitive to it.

i remember when i was on wellbutrin that i could not stand the agitation and anxiety of it (although it was very good for the libido ). unfortunately the agitation was so bad, i had to stop it. however, it may work wonders for you, piranna. just give it some time.

and if you have major probs with it, ring your doc. and ask her/him. that's probably the best way to put your mind at ease.

good luck and keep posting!!!
